What is Soy Candle?

Soy candles are candles made from soy wax, which is a processed form of soybean oil. They are usually container candles, because soy wax typically has a lower melting point than traditional waxes, but can also be made into pillar candles if certain additives are mixed into the soy wax.

Soy wax is a hydrogenated form of soybean oil. It is typically softer than paraffin wax and with a lower melting temperature, in most combinations. However, additives can raise this melting point to temperatures typical for paraffin-based candles. The melting point ranges from 49 to 82 degrees Celsius (120 to 180 degrees Fahrenheit), depending on the blend. Soy wax is available in flake and pellet form and has an off-white, opaque appearance. Its lower melting temperature can mean that candles will melt in hot weather. Since soy wax is usually used in container candles, this is not much of an issue.

ASPASIA DIY homepackage set has 19 fragrance scents from France. Because it is pure10ml, it has stronger scent. It is recommended to use 5% of Soy Wax. For example, you can use 5ml for 90ml soy candle.

▶ How to make

1. Put 200g of soy wax in the container.
2. Place the container of wax into the microwave and heat on high for 1 minutes. If the wax is not completely melted, place it back in the microwave and heat at 30 second intervals until all of the wax has fully melted (When heating anything in the microwave, your actual heating time can vary depending on your microwave, so be sure to keep a careful watch while the wax is heating and do not walk away).
3. Stir the wax with chopsticks to be fully liquid.
4. Add fragrance aroma oil (When the temperature is 50-60 degree, oil can be mixed with wax well. Also, the scent can be stronger).
5. Coat the end of wood wick with wax (Not recommended to use bond).
6. Hold wick 3-5 seconds to tumbler. Then, wick will be fixed.
7. Place the tumbler on the ground.
8. Pour the wax into the tumbler.
9. After pouring, do not touch and allow the wax to cool. Put the rest of wax after cooling half of it (Or Using hair dryer to melt down a little bit. Then the surface will be smoother).
